McCain's "Cross in Dirt" Fabrication Is Being Exposed
At this point I'm pretty well convinced that McCain simply made up his "cross in the dirt" story, stealing it from Solzhenitsen in order to firm up his faith credentials during his first run for the presidency.
For more background, read here, here, and here.
As usual, McCain will try to weasel out of this by doubling-down on his lies. So it's only a matter of time before Swift Boat liar and longtime McCain POW friend Bud Day comes out to say that McCain told him this story while they were still in 'Nam.
In 2004 we saw plenty of veterans willing to lie to get Bush into office, including Day. The same will be done for McCain.
[UPDATE]: And, as predicted, Bud Day crawls out of his hole to back up McCain's bogus story. Big surprise.

The "cross in the dirt" is actually a common story told by evangelical and pentecostal preachers, and was actually attached to Solzhenitsyn by Chuck Colson. McCain has adopted this fabrication, and his buddies will cover for him. Possibly, he's even convinced himself that it actually happened. Sad, isn't it? And, can you imagine what it would be like if this deluded clown is elected?
It never ceases to amaze me what "progressives" will believe to feel intellectually superior. Any veteran that doesn't share your pov has to be a liar. Anyone that's attached to the Swift Boaters has to be a liar (except for Kerry whose nonexistent trip to Cambodia was "seared" in his memory).
It's funny that that two prevalent themes after Saddleback from the Left is that McCain cheated, and that he made up stories. It's not really surprising that over 20% of Americans believe 9/11 was an inside when so many people are willing to believe just about anything about a candidate they don't like.
